About Me
About Me
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor, I have 30+ years of experience in the field of addiction treatment and general therapy, helping others find ways to lead happier lives. Eclectic in my approach, I incorporate EMDR, DBT, Mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to provide you with the best possible treatment outcome. My work with adults, adolescents, children and families has been enhanced by my experiences in therapeutic school settings, alcohol/drug treatment programs and mental health facilities.
In addition to my private practice, I have been a PATH Intl. Certified Riding Instructor and LCSW at Rocking Horse Rehab (RHR). I developed RHR's equine assisted mental health services for those struggling with ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Bi-Polar Disorder, and High Functioning Autism (Asperger's).
My internationally known social skills training manual, Horsemanship/Humanship Skills: How Horses Make Us Better People,
has been utilized by universities, including the University of Minnesota for curriculum development and at Prescott College’s equine assisted mental health program in Arizona.
Work with equines offers us the opportunity to learn and practice our coping skills in a non-judgmental atmosphere, practice mindfulness, personal safety, manage change and achieve balance in daily living. Although I am now retired from equine assisted therapies, I believe it presents an extraordinary opportunity for personal growth.
Professionally, I have presented at several PATH Intl. Conferences, as well as the NAMI Annual Conference. I supervised student interns from various colleges/universities and, in recent years, I have been a guest lecturer at Rutgers University in New Brunswick.
